A Full-Circle Moment: Exhibiting My Art
This week marked an incredibly special milestone in my art journey: I installed 20 original pieces at New Scenic Café. It’s hard to describe just how much this opportunity means to me, but I can confidently say it’s one of those full-circle moments that feels both humbling and deeply fulfilling.
The Beginning: A Grandfather’s Push
I wouldn’t even be selling artwork today if it weren’t for my grandpa. He was the first person I ever showed my finished pieces to, and without fail, he would respond with genuine enthusiasm. Grandparents have a way of being your biggest fans, don’t they? But my grandpa wasn’t just supportive; he saw something in my work that I didn’t fully see in myself. He encouraged me to take the leap and make prints of my art—a suggestion that ultimately became the foundation of my art career.
I often think about those moments with him when I’m working on a new piece. His belief in me was the spark that lit this path I’m on today. So, as I hung my originals at New Scenic Café this week, I couldn’t help but think of him and the role he played in getting me here.
The Art: A Glimpse Into My Process
The 20 pieces now on display include a mix of originals that have never seen the light of day and some that have become best sellers as prints. For many of these works, I wasn’t painting for anyone in particular or even with a specific vision in mind. I was simply painting for me—following my creative instincts and exploring what came naturally. Those pieces, created purely for the joy of creating, now have the chance to be shared with others, and that feels incredibly rewarding.
Each piece tells a story, and now they’re part of a new story: a collection being showcased in a space as beautiful and inspiring as New Scenic Café. For me, there’s something so fitting about this venue. The café’s reputation for incredible food and its connection to the North Shore make it the perfect place to share my work. It feels like my art has found a temporary home where it can connect with people in a meaningful way.
Why This Moment Matters
This installation isn’t just about displaying my art—it’s about reflecting on how far I’ve come. I think back to when I hesitated to even call myself an artist, to when my grandpa’s words of encouragement were the push I needed to take the first step. Now, my originals are hanging in one of the best dining establishments on the North Shore, a space that invites people to slow down, savor incredible food, and take in the beauty around them. It’s surreal.
Visit New Scenic Café
If you’ve never been to New Scenic Café, this is the perfect excuse to visit. I might be biased, but I truly believe it’s some of the best dining on the North Shore. Treat yourself to a date night or a leisurely lunch, and while you’re there, take some time to browse the art. The pieces are up for grabs for the first time ever and will be on display until March 17th.
Whether you’re there for the food, the art, or both, I hope the experience brings you as much joy as it brought me to share my work in this space. And to my grandpa, thank you for believing in me. This one’s for you.
